DEAN & CHRISTY FULKERSON

Go To Nations Missionaries Serving in the United States and the Philippines
2014 Graduates of Christ For The Nations Institute

Someone once said that faith is like walking down a foggy staircase. You know the steps are laid out before you even if you cannot see them. When I look back at our Christ For The Nations Institute experience, it was just like that. Dean had thoughts of getting a degree in Biblical Studies but during the second year of school, both of our hearts began to change.

A guest speaker spoke about the unreached and Dean and I were in tears and our hearts broke. We began hanging out with some people from Korea who were attending CFNI and we became fast friends. We felt drawn to Asia. Dean approached me with the idea of both of us going on the Christ For The Nations mission trip to Asia. We thought it could provide conformation for us if we were called to the mission field in Asia. Once we were there, we had no doubt what our calling was. Dean and I knew we were to become missionaries.

In Dean's third year at Christ For The Nations Institute in the Global Missions Major, we still walked on eggshells every three months praying Dean would be able to keep the same schedule to both work and go to school and God was faithful to work it out for him every time. In class one day, Nancy Lovelace from Go To Nations was the guest speaker. She spoke about GTN and the field schools they offered for mission training. She spoke about how the focus of Go To Nations is many things and there is a place for everyone. Missions is about changing peoples hearts, preaching the Gospel, humanitarian efforts, education, and many other things.

I never thought I had the confidence to preach at a church or be a missionary until I enrolled the following semester and took the Global Missions Major as well so Dean and I would be equally equipped. We picked Go To Nations field school in the Philippines. We felt that we would get the additional training needed to be long-term missionaries. We felt strongly that our two boys should go with us as well so that they could experience some of the same things God had revealed to us.

The Timothy Internship Program provided amazing mission training for our whole family. It provided our sons an opportunity to learn life skills and experiences they would not have learned in the United States. Once we returned from field school, it was an easy decision for us to become Go To Nations missionaries. We learned so much, and we really respected the GTN missionary's ministries, how well they coped on the mission field, and treated each other. We were impressed by how much support Go To Nations gives to their missionaries; like one big family.

After my family's experience at Go To Nations field school and seeing the benefits for missionaries and young adults just starting out in the world, we highly recommend it to all of the Christ For The Nations Institute students.
